Join West Kootenay Naturalists’ meeting at noon – bring a bagged lunch and a mug for tea, followed by club business at 1 pm, and film screening of Snk’mip – Dig Deeper at 1:30pm
Snk’mip – Dig Deeper is a co-production of the Haven for Ecology (formerly the Valhalla Foundation for Ecology) and Autonomous Sinixt. Following the film, Lori Barkley and Tom Babott, directors on the Haven for Ecology Board, will join for a Q&A about the film and Snk’mip.

GoByBike Week is a free, province-wide, week designed to encourage cycling for everyday transportation. The week is kicking of with Fabulous Friday on Septmember 18 at the Hall St Plaza in Nelson, at 4:30 pm for face painting, a bicycle bedazzling station and a kids’ bike parade! At 5:30 riders will gather for a longer bike tour winding up at Cottonwood Falls Park for the Fabulous Friday costume Party. And on Friday, Sept. 25 there’s a Critical Mass Ride all over Castelgar starting at 5:30 in Millenium Park.

The 2026 International Day of Peace invites us all to do our part for world peace. This Peace Walk, hosted by the Nelson Interfaith Collaborative, will include informative stops along the route, as well as time to pray for the peace we all want to see. The walk will conclude at the Lakeside Peace Pole.

Join Friends of Kootenay Lake Stewardship Society for their 3rd Annual Cottonwood Creek Cleanup in celebration of BC Rivers Day! Wear sturdy, weather-appropriate clothing and rubber boots, as some of the cleanup will be in the stream. Snacks and refreshments provided.
