Rachel Holt describes some of the history of BC forest policy. She says tariff pressure is no reason to panic and sell off all the rest of the old trees in the province. In this interview broadcast just before the November Broken Promises on forestry rally, Rachel Holt explaining how economically and ecologically sound forest policy has to taken a longer-term approach.
Princeton BC has faced severe flooding and wildfires in recent years. Mayor Spencer Coyne talks about about the disasters, a reality he says Canadian municipalities must face almost every year. Back during the federal election signed on to the Elbows Up for Climate campaign urging the federal parties to invest in economic initiatives that build the economy AND lower emissions to keep the climate calamities from getting worse and worse.
Back in March the Federal Court ruled the Health Canada Pesticide Management Agency had to review the science it uses to approve glyphosate for use on crops and forests. Glyphosate is by far the sprayed herbicide in the country and around the world. The government has long been approving glyphosate as safe on food crops, but many of us have concerns.
