Earth scientist Dave Hughes published a detailed analysis of Canadian emissions and fossil fuel development in early 2024. His study concluded we can’t meet any emission targets while we are expanding fossil fuel production.

Activists in Nanaimo have successfully led that City to stop adding fossil gas lines to new buildings and adopting a gas-free building codes? Kathryn Jane Hazel from the Nanaimo Climate Action Hub tells us more about why its important.

In January of 2024 a deep freeze snap pushed Nelson electricity use to record highs costing Nelson Hydro thousands of dollars in peak price power. Nelson Hydro general manager Scott Spencer explained why the peak consumption is so costly and what the city can do to control it, even if they can’t control the weather.
